Kızağan: Turkic God of War

This is my rendition of Kızağan: the Turkic God of War.

Kızağan translates to "he who is angry". He would descend from the 9th floor of the Ulukayın, the Tree of Life in Turkic Cosmology, to earth and grant special powers to certain commanders before battle. It is said that he even had the power to make them invincible for a short period of time.

This deity was mighty and feared, riding on a red horse through the sky. He was the rival of Mergen, the God of Wisdom and Knowledge. However, Kızağan did not stand in opposition to wisdom. On the contrary. it was his knowledge that allowed entire tribes and nations to win even the most difficult battles.
