Grumbates (Kurum Pat) of the Chionite Huns reaches Amida in Byzantium

This is one of the artworks used in my new video documentary about the Huns of Central Asia, in this case depicting Kurum Pat (Grumbates in Roman sources) as the ruler of the Chionites. This middle-aged Hun reached as far as Anatolia when in 359 CE, he partnered with the Persian King Shapur against the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire. This war culminated in the Siege of Amida, modern-day Diyarbakir in Türkiye. Little did Kurum Pat realize that this war would cost him something much more important than manpower and armory – it would cost his son.
